Dorm Crew is managed by a team of student captains. During the Spring semester, outstanding workers are nominated for the “Trial” Captain selection process. A number of Trial Captains are selected to supervise crews of eight to twelve workers during Spring Clean-Up. On average, Captains earn $1000 a week over Clean-Up periods.
The “Trials” are evaluated during and after Spring Clean-Up. A number of them are then chosen to serve as Full Captains throughout the following year. Each Full Captain performs
office duties and takes responsibility for a House, hiring a crew of workers and supervising the term-time work in the House. This unique job is not only lucrative, but also offers multiple job skills, leadership opportunities, and the chance to get to know come of the most down-to-earth students on campus. Very few college jobs provide the management and leadership experience that Dorm Crew Captains develop.
How Do I Become a Captain?
First, get a job with us as a term-time worker. If you work regularly, consistently, and well, your captain will invite you to apply for the position of Trial Captain during Spring Clean-Up. Trial Captain applicants submit a written application and participate in an interview. If you are selected from among the applicants, you will be trained to captain a crew during Spring Clean-Up. After Spring Clean-Up, you will be offered a job as a regular Captain based on the performance of your crew and our evaluation of your trial captainship.
Your individual captain in your house is your best resource to answer further questions about the Trial Captain process.
